WSPA at Taking Action for Animals 2006 conference

WSPA USA Executive Director Dr. Allan Kornberg will join other leading animal welfare figures on a speaking panel at the Taking Action for Animals 2006 conference. The national conference, to be held September 2-5 in Washington D.C., gives leaders of animal welfare and other social movements an opportunity to share their expertise and experience with other activists.

Dr. Kornberg will be part of a panel focusing on international animal welfare. Topics will include the campaign to secure a Universal Declaration for the Welfare of Animals at the United Nations. He will also discuss the advances made by the Whalewatch coalition world and WSPA's campaign to end bear bile farming in Asia. The other speakers on the panel are Michelle Thew of the Animal Protection Institute (API) and Andrew Rowan of the Humane Society International (HSI).

 

Conference open to all

The Taking Action for Animals conference, now in its second year, is a leading event for the animal protection movement that brings together animal welfare organizations and activists from around the United States. Over 500 people attended last year's event in Washington, D.C.

Both new and experienced activists will take part in the four day conference, which features keynote speeches from renowned animal welfare experts, workshops and training sessions for activists, and a lobby day on Capitol Hill. Animal welfare organizations will also have the opportunity to set up exhibitions and meet with others in the movement to plan events and campaigns.

Registration for the Taking Action for Animals 2006 conference is still open for attendees, exhibitors,and sponsors. Animal welfare organizations as well as individuals from all levels of experience are welcome to register.
