Comedian Claude Stuart has assembled a lineup of fellow stand-up comedians for “Animals of Comedy,” a one-night-only special event to benefit the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) at the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club on Sunday, May 16, at 8:00 PM.
According to Cecily West, Executive Director for WSPA, U.S., “Claude has been extremely vocal about his admiration for WSPA and his willingness to do anything he can to help spread the word about animal welfare. We thank him for his generosity and spirit to create his ‘Animals of Comedy’ event. We also are grateful to the comedians who are participating, as well as to Jon Lovitz. It is clear that animals truly matter to these people, and it’s going to be a fabulous show.”
Stuart said, “I am just thrilled to support an organization like WSPA. They do incredible work to help animals and I want to support them in any way I can. There really is no other organization reaching as far and wide as they are to help those animals most in need.”
Stuart’s WSPA event comes just off the heels of his appearance on the Tonight Show in April. Best known as the “Human Cartoon” by fans and the industry, he plays regularly to standing room-only crowds at the world famous Hollywood IMPROV, The Icehouse and The Laugh Factory. He has shared the stage with such comedians as Chelsea Handler, Chris Rock and Dane Cook, among others. Claude also has joined a growing community of celebrity animal welfarists – including Simon Cowell, Leona Lewis and many others – who have declared “Animals Matter to Me” on video as part of WSPA’s ongoing campaign.
Other comedians performing at “Animals of Comedy” night include: Adam Richmond, Jentle Phoenix, Thai Rivera, Charles Allen, Tim Mars and Roger Rodd. In addition to the show, there will be a silent auction to benefit WSPA. Tickets for the show are $10 and available at http://www.thejonlovitzcomedyclub.com/.
