2009 Michigan Humane Society Telethon
For over 131 years, The Michigan Humane Society (MHS) has been at the forefront of providing hope to animals for whom all else was lost. Providing basic needs such as food, shelter and most of all hope!
Each year, as one of the nation’s top animal welfare organizations, MHS not only directly touches the lives of over 100,000 companion animals in Michigan, but helps transforms the lives of our four legged friends all across the country, and even worldwide. Watch the "A Day Without MHS" video >>>
How? In many ways, including
- Emergency and disaster response expertise that has played a critical role in the on-site animal rescue and treatment in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and most recently on Galveston Island during Hurricane Ike.
- Through the development of innovative programs designed to not only further its mission which includes ending animal homelessness, MHS provides the types of cutting edge tools necessary for adaptation by humane organizations across the United States and beyond. Two recent examples include a low cost sterilization initiative and the pioneering Pawsitive Start program.
- MHS is home to the world’s most famous crusaders for animals who are abused or neglected. Known as “Animal Cops: Detroit,” these tireless investigators provide not only hope to animals suffering needlessly but seek justice on their behalf as well. Today, email and inquires from around the world continue; not only pay tribute to these heroes but seek their influence to bring change to their part of the globe.
But MHS needs your help. We are all familiar with the economic woes the US is facing but no place is worse that that of Michigan. Furthermore, MHS does not receive any government funding, is not a United Way agency and has no direct affiliation to any national group. So they depend on people like you who are committed to improving the lives of all animals.
So please consider, as part of the MHS Valentine’s Telethon, February 12, 2009, giving a gift of hope to an animal who needs your help. On average it cost MHS $120 to transform the life of an animal in need. Can you think of a better way of demonstrating true compassion this Valentine’s Day? Please Share the Love; after all, a commitment to animals in need should know no borders! Watch MHS videos >>>
