Explore the links on this page to find out more. Watch a video overview of our farm animal welfare program: Billions of farm animals throughout the world are reared behind the closed doors of the factory farm. Animals are caged, crammed and confined, forced to grow super-fast, and pushed to their physical limits in the quest for ever more meat, milk or eggs. WSPA's Farm Animal Welfare campaign is working to stop this suffering. A global call to action Such a global problem requires a global solution. In countries all over the world, WSPA is working with other animal welfare organizations to help put an end to the suffering.
Your support has helped us: - Ban Foie Gras production in Israel, as well as legislate protection of veal calves.
- Present the case for improved standards of animal welfare at an international conference hosted by the OIE (World Organization for Animal Health that sets animal health standards for international trade) in Paris.
- Host the first-ever animal welfare conference in Colombia.
- Form the Asian Coalition for Farm Animals to create an Asia-wide voice for animals.
You can help make a difference by spreading the word about the negative effects of factory farming. And eat better, safer and kinder by avoiding factory farmed meat, milk and eggs and by following our ‘humane hints' below. Humane hints As citizens and consumers we can all help bring an end to the cruelty of factory farming. The following humane tips will help you take meaningful action for farm animals:
- Look for organic, free range, pasture raised or humanely raised meat, milk
and eggs. These are produced in farming systems where the animals can roam freely and behave more naturally. - Make humane food choices by selecting food labels that pass the WSPA test for animal welfare.
- Beware of the labeling term “natural,” which means nothing in terms of animal welfare and may be placed on products that are produced in a factory farm.
- Urge your restaurants and stores to stock more organic, free range and humanely raised products. Congratulate those that already do.
- Make an effort to reduce the amount of meat and other animal foods in your diet.
