Animal Welfare Programs Manager

Contribute to creating a world where animal welfare (AW) matters 
and animal cruelty ends

 

The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) is the world’s largest alliance of AW organizations. It brings together over 1,000 Member Societies in more than 150 countries and a whole community of individuals around the world who care about AW.  We are a fast growing movement entering into a new phase of expansion and development.

We seek a dynamic, motivated and experienced individual to take on the exciting and challenging role of driving our U.S. AW Program efforts.

The candidate must have a proven successful track record in enhancing AW through educational, outreach and legislative initiatives.  Specifically we are seeking someone who is skilled at corporate campaigning and consumer engagement.  And, this individual must have experience improving the visibility of core programs and the organization as a whole through U.S. media coverage.
 
Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategy for all AW campaign initiatives and establish performance measures.
• Devise cause-related collateral materials in support of AW Programs.
• Build teams and coalitions to foster WSPA AW activities, including legislative bodies and other NGOs.
• Create opportunities and methods for political and public community action/advocacy.
• Oversee AW Program-related web sites and creation of all Program-related stories.
• Manage AW Program personnel.

Experience & Skills

 Must have minimum 5 years working in animal welfare advocacy/outreach position, with at least three years working in an NGO managing programs/campaigns.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Strong project and budget management skills.
• Ability to strategize and carry out multi-year outreach AW Programs for a variety of audiences.
• Confident public speaker. 
• Able to represent the organization in high-level proceedings.
• Capable of conducting AW activities internationally. 
• Able to collaborate with partners, e.g., other NGOs, corporations, government agencies, etc.
• Additional languages a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Experience in working with the media.
