SPCA Serving Erie County Hosts Paws in the Park 2009

September 2009

Located in Tonawanda, New York, the SPCA Serving Erie County is the second-oldest humane society in the country. For over 140 years, the SPCA has been committed to protecting the welfare of animals and educating the public about the role of animals in society. Today, the SPCA cares for approximately 20,000 animals each year through programs that include adoptions, animal rescues, cruelty investigations, education, and much more.

On Saturday, September 12, the SPCA Serving Erie County will host its annual fundraising event, PAWS in the Park. The event is a revenue source integral to the yearlong support of the SPCA’s vital programs. Last year, approximately 1200 people and 1000 dogs made the march through Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island, New York raising more than $148,000 to help sick, injured, and homeless animals at the SPCA!

The event will be held at Beaver Island State Park again this year, with registration starting at 9:30 a.m., and the walk starting at 11 a.m. After the walk, participants can visit the Paws Expo, where there will be fun activities for the whole family, including SPCA information booths, more than twenty vendor and exhibitor booths, agility demonstrations, prize giveaways, music, and more.
