More than 60 Cities to Host Walk For Farm Animals Events

September 2009Santa Monica Walk

The animal advocacy event of the season is coming to your area this autumn, so lace up your comfiest sneakers and get ready to hit the streets during Farm Sanctuary’s annual Walk for Farm Animals. From September 19 through October 25, thousands of people in dozens of cities throughout the U.S. and Canada will attend Walk events — and you’re invited to be part of the action!

The Walk for Farm Animals raises essential funds that enable Farm Sanctuary to rescue and care for abused animals, as well as carry out public education programs and nationwide advocacy campaigns. But the Walk is more than just a fundraising event: it’s a fun-raiser for the whole family that promotes public awareness of an important cause.

Many people still don’t know about the devastating impact that factory farming has on animals, the environment and our own health. By walking for farm animals, holding signs and banners, and handing out fliers to passersby at local events, advocates of all ages can spread a truly meaningful message of change that encourages others to make more compassionate and sustainable food choices.

You can make a difference by participating in this critical event aimed at transforming the way society treats farm animals. Here are the ways you can help:

Walk the Walk – First see if an event has been scheduled for your area, and if so, sign up. This year, Walks are being held in more than 60 cities throughout North America — more than any previous year! Your $15 registration fee will help Farm Sanctuary help animals, and entitle you to a limited-edition chocolate-brown Walk T-shirt designed by Josh Hooten of Herbivore Clothing Co. You can also raise funds for farm animals by asking family, friends and co-workers to make pledge donations. You could be one of the top earners and be eligible to win special prizes!

Coordinate a Walk  – If no one has organized a Walk in your city or town, there’s still time to step up to the challenge, so get started today!

Sponsor a Walker – Pledging donations to those who sign up to walk is a great way to show your support for farm animals and the people who care about them. E-mail walk@farmsanctuary.org or call 607-583-2225 ext. 283 for more information. Click here  to make your gift of support.

Promote the WalkHelp spread the word by adding a Walk banner to your Web page, blog, e-mail signature, and social networking pages!
